Bilko

Early episodes of The Phil Silvers Show were filmed in New York, but towards the end of its run they moved to California. According to Wikipedia, the real reason for the reassignment of Bilko's unit (the motor pool) from Kansas to California was "so that the series could more plausibly bring in guest stars from nearby Hollywood, such as Dean Martin, Mickey Rooney, Diana Dors and Lucille Ball." It was explained in the storyline as being orchestrated by Bilko, who'd discovered a map showing a gold deposit near the abandoned army post at Camp Fremont.
